What it is
This opened in 1955 as Snow White's Adventures, a ride so frightening that Disney spent decades fielding complaints about it, and it was retitled Snow White's Scary Adventures in 1983 in an attempt to warn people. In 2021 it reopened as Snow White's Enchanted Wish with new projections, new lighting, new music, and a restructured story that ends happily instead of ending on the Witch.
The change was real. The old ride essentially had no Snow White in it — you were Snow White, and the ride was a sequence of threats. The new version puts her on screen, adds the dwarfs' cottage and a mine sequence with jewel effects, and closes on a wedding rather than a cliff.
It is still not a gentle ride for a sensitive toddler. The Witch appears repeatedly, the forest is dark and full of grasping branches, and there is a moment where she leans in with an apple. What changed is the proportion: the frightening parts are now punctuation rather than the whole sentence.
What riding it is actually like
You board a small mine car and roll into the dwarfs' cottage, then into the mine with new lighting effects on the jewels, and into a scene where the dwarfs are dancing. This first half is bright, musical, and entirely benign — a genuine change from the pre-2021 ride.
The turn comes with the Witch at her cauldron and the transformation scene. From there you pass into the dark forest with reaching trees and glowing eyes, then a sequence where the Witch appears close to the vehicle offering the apple, and a rock-tumbling moment.
The finale is new: a bright resolution with Snow White and the prince, projections, and an actual conclusion. Two and a half minutes, and the whole ride now leaves children on an upswing rather than in the dark.
Is Snow White's Enchanted Wish scary?
The 2021 reworking made this much gentler than the version older visitors remember, but the Witch still appears several times at close range in the dark, including one lunge with an apple. Under-fives with a low startle threshold still find it upsetting. The forest sequence with grasping trees remains.
Scores are editorial, on a 1–5 scale, judged against what frightens a typical four- to seven-year-old rather than an adult.

Small mine cars with a bench seat and a door to step over. The queue is short and level, and cast members will hold loading for a slow transfer.
Tips that actually help
- If your child was scared of this ride on a visit before 2021, it is worth trying again. The rebuild genuinely changed the balance.
- The wishing well outside the ride entrance is the original 1955 structure and one of the quietest photo spots in Fantasyland.
- It is next door to Pinocchio's Daring Journey, which is the harder ride of the two for small children despite the friendlier name.
- Waits here are almost always shorter than Peter Pan's for a longer, better-lit ride. If you have twenty minutes in Fantasyland, this is a better use of them.
- The Witch's window above the ride entrance opens periodically and she looks out. Point it out to a child who was fine on the ride, and absolutely do not point it out to one who was not.

Is Snow White's Enchanted Wish scary?
Less than the ride it replaced, but not harmless. The Witch appears several times at close range in the dark, there is a haunted forest sequence, and one moment where she leans toward the vehicle with the apple. Children under five with a low startle threshold still find it upsetting.
What changed in the 2021 rebuild?
Almost everything except the building. Disney added projection effects, new lighting and music, a mine sequence, and a proper happy ending, and reduced the proportion of the ride given over to the Witch. The old version had essentially no Snow White in it; the new one does.
Does it have a height requirement?
No. There is no height requirement and infants can ride on a lap. The vehicles are small mine cars with a bench seat and a door you step over.
Is it the same as the ride at Magic Kingdom?
There is no equivalent at Magic Kingdom anymore — Snow White's Scary Adventures closed there in 2012 and was replaced by Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Disneyland's is the surviving Snow White dark ride, and it is a very different attraction from the coaster in Florida.
