Conservation Station
Any heightThe park's working animal-care building, with a window into the veterinary treatment room and the quietest air conditioning at Animal Kingdom.
Conservation Station is the reason Animal Kingdom can call itself a zoological institution rather than a theme park with animals in it. It is the on-site animal health complex, and one wall of the guest area is glass looking directly into the veterinary treatment room. When there is a procedure scheduled - an examination, a dental, an imaging session, occasionally a surgery - you watch it happen, with a cast member narrating over a speaker.
Tips for Conservation Station
- Come between noon and 3 PM. This is the best heat-avoidance block in the park and the least crowded building in it.
- Check the animal cam wall before you leave. If the gorillas are visible on the cams, walk Gorilla Falls when you get back; if they are not, go do something else and come back later.
- Ask a cast member whether anything is scheduled in the treatment room. They usually know what is coming in the next hour, and it is worth timing your visit around.
- Repeat-visitor note: the cast members carrying animal ambassadors here are the most accessible animal staff in the resort. Nobody is in a hurry, there is no queue, and they will answer questions for ten minutes if you engage.
- The Wildlife Express stops running before park close. Confirm the last train time before you settle in, because there is no other way back.
