What it is
Space 220 sits beside Mission: SPACE and is entered through a 'space elevator' — a room with screen floors and ceilings that simulates a climb from a Florida launch pad to orbit over about two minutes. You step out into a dining room ringed with screens showing the curve of the Earth, the sun crossing, and the occasional passing spacecraft.
The theater is excellent. The elevator gag is the best pre-meal bit at any Walt Disney World restaurant, and the window effect holds up because the imagery moves slowly and continuously rather than looping obviously. Cast members stay in character as station crew.
The food is contemporary American, served as a fixed-price multi-course meal, and it is good rather than remarkable. You are paying a premium for the room, and the restaurant knows it. Go in understanding that trade and you will have a fine time; go in expecting the cooking to justify the check and you will not.

The most impressive dining room at EPCOT and the least impressive value — worth doing once for the room, but do not pretend the food is what you paid for.

Tips for Space 220 Restaurant
- Ask for a table on the window side. There is an interior ring of tables that has a much weaker view, and the difference in experience is large enough to be worth asking about at check-in.
- The lounge takes a limited number of walk-ups and offers a shorter à la carte menu at a lower spend than the dining room. It is the value play and almost nobody knows it exists.
- Reservations open sixty days out and this is one of the two or three hardest tables at EPCOT to get. Check for cancellations in the app in the morning — drops are frequent inside forty-eight hours.
- The elevator is the highlight, and you experience it once at the start. Do not be late — arriving after your party will get you walked in through the back without the ride up.
- Portions on the prix fixe are moderate. Big eaters routinely leave still hungry at $79 a head, which is the most common complaint about the place.
