Carnation Cafe has been serving on Main Street since 1955, originally as an ice cream parlor sponsored by the Carnation company. It now runs as a full table-service restaurant with a small indoor room and a much larger patio under umbrellas, right where Main Street opens toward the hub.
The kitchen is run by a long-tenured chef whose name appears on several menu items, and the cooking is better than it needs to be for a location whose main asset is a view of the parade route. Breakfast is the strongest meal — eggs, a loaded baked potato hash, and Mickey-shaped waffles — and it is also the easiest reservation to get.
The patio's location is both the selling point and the catch. You are watching Main Street all through your meal, which is lovely; you are also in the direct path of the parade crowd, and the tables closest to the street get roped into the viewing area at parade time, which cast members will explain when it happens.
The most pleasant sit-down meal on Main Street and the only one where the food justifies the seat. Breakfast is the version to book; dinner is fine but you are mostly paying for the patio.

Our take: A perfectly good waffle in a very good seat. The shape is the entire product and children know it, which is fine — book breakfast for the patio and the empty street, not the batter.

It helps considerably, particularly for breakfast and for any table around parade time. Reservations open sixty days out. Walk-ups do get seated in the mid-afternoon lull, so it is worth asking at the podium if you did not plan ahead.
Partially, and it is not a strategy worth building a meal around. The tables nearest the street fall inside the parade viewing area and cast members will manage the space when the route ropes off. You will see the parade go past, but not from a seat you chose.
Yes — there are vegetarian mains on the standard menu and the kitchen handles allergy requests carefully. Tell the server at the start rather than at ordering; a chef will usually come to the table for anything complicated.
