What you get
- Three hours in a park with attendance capped far below what the hard-ticket parties allow, which produces near-walk-on waits on attractions that ran 60 to 90 minutes that afternoon.
- For the announced 2027 dates, event tickets admit guests at 7 p.m. at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, before the three-hour event begins.
- Unlimited select ice cream novelties, popcorn and bottled soft drinks and water from carts around the park, included in the ticket and genuinely unlimited.
- A published list of participating attractions, so you can check before buying whether the rides you want are actually in the event.
- PhotoPass photographers stationed around the park with no queues at any of them, which is the only time that is true at Walt Disney World.

What you do not
- Three hours is three hours. At the top of the band that is close to $70 an hour per person, and the clock starts whether or not you are in a queue at the time.
- Not every attraction participates. The published list is shorter than the park's roster, the omissions are usually the shows and the smaller rides, and a family that assumed the whole park was open will find half their list closed.
- The included food is the cheap end of the cart menu: ice cream novelties, popcorn, bottled soda and water. It is not dinner, and treating it as dinner is how people end up eating four ice creams and feeling ill by 23:00.
- There is no entertainment. No parade, no fireworks, no stage show, and only a small number of character meets. If somebody in your party wants to watch something rather than ride something, they will be bored for three hours.
- The published 2027 calendar covers Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Disney does not currently list Animal Kingdom After Hours dates in that release.
- Disney lists specific 2027 dates through August 25 and says tickets are on sale. Additional or changed dates are not guaranteed; confirm availability for your park and night.
- When it ends, it ends. Cast members sweep the park, and the only queue you keep is the one you are physically standing in when the clock runs out.

How to actually do After Hours
Do the break-even math before you look at dates
The only question that matters is how many attractions you will ride, and there is a number that answers it. At the middle of the price band, riding eight headliners in three hours costs roughly $20 a ride and skips queues that ran 60 to 90 minutes that afternoon. Riding four costs $40 a ride for attractions you could have queued for.
Compare it directly against the alternative rather than against nothing. Lightning Lane Multi Pass plus a Single Pass at a busy Walt Disney World park lands in similar money and delivers four to seven Lightning Lane rides across a whole day of walking and heat. After Hours delivers eight to twelve in three cool hours with no app management.
The test that settles it: open the published participating attraction list for the specific night and count the rides you genuinely want. Six or more, buy it. Fewer than six, do not, regardless of how good a deal the price looks — the list is different at every park and it is shorter than people assume.
Do the same count for the people in your party who are not you. An event with six attractions you want and two that a smaller child can ride is a three-hour ticket that one person is enjoying.
Spend the early-entry hours on what is not in the event
The event ticket admits you a couple of hours before the stated start, and the instinct is to use that window on the headliners. That is the wrong move here, and it is the single most valuable thing on this page.
During those hours the park is still running its ordinary day with ordinary crowds, and the headliners are at their day-time waits. After the event starts, those same headliners are near walk-on. So the early window should go on the attractions that are not in the event, or that will not have short lines during it.
In practice that means shows, the attractions omitted from the participating list, dinner, and anything with a fixed showtime. It also means getting your event wristband immediately on entry rather than joining the queue for one at 20:45.
Eat in the early window, not during the event. Every minute of the three hours is worth roughly a dollar per person, and a quick-service meal at 20:00 costs the same food and none of the event.
Ride the biggest line last, not first
The longest queue of the entire event is the marquee attraction in the first twenty minutes, because every guest who just entered walks straight to it. That queue then shrinks continuously for three hours while everybody else rides everything.
The correct order inverts the usual advice: start on the second- and third-tier attractions nearest the entrance, work outward, and come back to the single biggest attraction in the final half hour when its line is at its shortest of the night.
The queue closes when the event closes, and guests already in it are processed. That makes the last ten minutes the best time of the whole event to join the longest line in the park — you will ride, and the people who rode it at 21:10 waited four times as long for the same thing.
Repeat rides are where the value actually is. Riding a headliner three times in an evening is something no other Disney product allows at any price, and after your first lap of the park the marginal cost of a re-ride is a two-minute walk.
The included snacks, and where the carts are not busy
The ice cream, popcorn and bottled drinks are genuinely unlimited and genuinely included, and the carts are not evenly loaded. The ones near the park entrance and along the main spine hold lines for the first hour because that is where everybody walks.
The carts at the far edges of the park have no line at any point in the night. Time your snack for the point in your ride loop when you are furthest from the entrance, and you will never queue for one.
Cast members will hand you more than one item at a time. A group that sends one person to a cart for four ice creams gets four ice creams, which is the difference between one queue and four.
Do not build the evening around the food. The whole product is priced on ride throughput, and the calories are there so nobody leaves early to eat.
Which park to buy it at
Hollywood Studios is the best buy and it is not close. That park has the worst ratio of capacity to demand at Walt Disney World, its headliner tier is the strongest, and an attendance cap does more there than anywhere else. It is also the version most likely to sell out.
Magic Kingdom is the second choice and a good one. The participating list is the longest of any park, so the six-attraction test is easy to pass, and the park's ride density means very little of your three hours is spent walking.

EPCOT is situational and depends entirely on the participating list for that cycle. Run the six-attraction count carefully at that park, because EPCOT's roster contains several attractions that never have long lines anyway and they inflate the list without adding value.
Buying, given the dates come in batches
Disney has published a park-specific 2027 calendar through August 25, with tickets on sale. Select your park and exact date from the official list before arranging a night around the event.
For a 2027 trip that depends on After Hours, check Disney’s posted date and ticket availability first. The published calendar gives concrete options from January through August, but additions beyond it are not promised.
Buy as soon as you see a Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom night that fits. Those sell out, sometimes weeks ahead, and there is no equivalent of a party season where another date will come along.
Check for a passholder or DVC rate before paying full price. Discounts have appeared on this product more consistently than on the Magic Kingdom parties, and they are not always surfaced on the first booking screen.
The verdict
For the published 2027 run, compare Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT by the attractions you want and the price on your exact date.
Worth it if
- You are a group of adults or older children who will ride continuously for three hours without needing a break, a meal or a show.
- You would otherwise have bought Lightning Lane Multi Pass plus a Single Pass at the same park on a busy day, in which case this is comparable money for considerably more rides.
- You are at Hollywood Studios. That park has the worst capacity-to-demand ratio at Walt Disney World, which makes an attendance cap worth more there than anywhere else.
- Your trip is short and you need to compress a park into an evening. Three hours of near-walk-on riding covers most of a park's headliner tier.
- You are staying somewhere with a short journey home. A midnight or 01:00 finish is fine from the Skyliner or a monorail resort and punishing from a value resort on a bus.
Skip it if
- You are planning around an Animal Kingdom After Hours night in 2027: Disney’s published release lists Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and EPCOT only.
- Fewer than six attractions on the published participating list are ones you actually want. That is the test, and it is the only test — count them before you buy rather than after.
- Your party includes anybody who will want to sit down, eat properly, or watch a show. There is nothing here for them and three hours is a long time to have nothing to do.
- You have a park morning booked the next day. The event finishes at midnight or later, and rope drop the following morning is the thing that actually gets sacrificed.
- You were expecting a party. There is no parade, no fireworks and almost no entertainment — the absence of those things is the product, and buying it by mistake is a common and expensive error.
- The date is the only one available and it is at a park you have already done that week. The event's value comes from clearing a headliner list, and clearing a list you cleared on Tuesday is not worth $170.

How is this different from the Halloween and Christmas parties?
This event sells low crowds and nothing else; the parties sell entertainment. After Hours runs three hours against a party's five, caps attendance far lower, includes ice cream and popcorn rather than candy, and has no parade, fireworks or stage show. If you want ride throughput it is the better ticket by a wide margin. If you want to watch something it is the wrong purchase entirely.

For Disney’s announced 2027 dates, choose among Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom and EPCOT by the attractions you most want. The event is not currently listed at Animal Kingdom. Hollywood Studios and EPCOT start at $159 plus tax; Magic Kingdom starts at $189. Check the participating attraction list and exact ticket price for your night.
Is three hours long enough to be worth it?
Yes, if you ride continuously and no if you do not. Eight to twelve attractions in three hours is achievable at Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios with a plan, which works out cheaper per ride than Lightning Lane on a busy day. A group that stops for a sit-down snack and a shop will manage five and will feel the price.
Can I get into the park before the event starts?
Yes, historically a couple of hours before the stated start, on the event ticket alone. Use those hours on the attractions that are not in the event and on eating, not on the headliners — the headliners are at day-time waits before the event and near walk-on afterward, so spending early-entry time on them wastes the window.
Does Lightning Lane work during the event?
No, and it does not need to. Lightning Lane is not sold for After Hours and the attendance cap is the mechanism that replaces it. That is also the right comparison to make when deciding whether to buy: price the event against what Multi Pass plus a Single Pass would have cost you at that park on a busy day.
