What it is

Pizzafari is a large quick service on Discovery Island serving flatbread pizzas, pasta, salads and a few sandwiches. The food is the weakest of the park's major quick-service options: the flatbreads are competent and forgettable, and nothing on the menu is worth planning around.

The building, though, is one of the best interiors at Animal Kingdom. Each dining room is painted floor to ceiling in a different animal theme - nocturnal creatures in one, animals that hang upside down in another, bugs in a third - executed by real muralists in a folk-art style with an enormous amount of detail. Most guests eat under it without looking up.

It is also large, indoors and air-conditioned, with a lot of seats. In this park that combination is worth something regardless of what is on the plate.

Our verdict

Honestly the weakest food in the park, and still worth using for the air conditioning, the seat count and murals better than the meal. Order the minimum and enjoy the room.

What to order

The dishes this kitchen is actually known for. Menus change seasonally, so treat this as what to look for rather than a guaranteed list.

  • Cheese flatbread
  • Pepperoni flatbread
  • Caesar salad
  • Meatball sub
  • Plant-based flatbread

Tips for Pizzafari

  • Come for the rooms, not the food. Walk through all the dining rooms before you sit and pick the one with the murals you like best.
  • It is the largest air-conditioned seating capacity on Discovery Island. On a hot day or a rainy one, that is the actual product being sold.
  • If you have a picky eater who will only accept pizza, this is your location and there is no point fighting it. Everyone else should walk to Flame Tree or Satu'li Canteen.
  • Repeat-visitor note: the murals are organized by animal behavior rather than species - one room is animals that camouflage, another is animals that hang upside down. Once you know the organizing principle the rooms get much more interesting.
  • Mobile order and use the seating as a rest stop. There is no rule that says you have to be hungry to sit in an air-conditioned room.

Cheese Flatbread

Pizzafari

$12.99

An individual cheese flatbread pizza served with a side, from the large air-conditioned quick service on Discovery Island.

Our take: Skip it unless you have a child who will only eat pizza. It is the weakest food in the park - order the minimum and use the air conditioning and the hand-painted dining rooms, which are the actual product here.

Pizzafari: common questions

Is Pizzafari any good?

The food is average theme-park pizza and the least interesting quick service at Animal Kingdom. The building is the draw - hand-painted themed dining rooms and a lot of air-conditioned seating.

Does Pizzafari have air conditioning?

Yes, and it is the largest indoor air-conditioned seating capacity on Discovery Island. That makes it useful on a hot afternoon or a rainy hour regardless of what you order.

Is there a vegan option?

Yes, there is a plant-based flatbread and other allergy-friendly options, and the kitchen handles requests routinely. It is one of the easier locations in the park for common restrictions.
