Tusker House sits in Harambe, dressed as a converted market hall with painted beams, hanging textiles and windows onto the street. Donald Duck hosts in safari gear alongside Mickey, Daisy and Goofy, and the characters work the room continuously rather than at a photo backdrop, which is the correct format and increasingly rare.
The food is the reason to book it over other character meals. Alongside the expected scrambled eggs and chicken tenders there is genuine range: spiced stews, curries, roasted vegetables with real seasoning, couscous, chutneys, cured meats and cheeses at lunch and dinner. Somebody in the kitchen cares. Adults who dread character dining tend to leave surprised.
It is served family-style or as a served buffet depending on the current operating model, but the practical experience is the same: a lot of food, refilled on request, at a fixed price.
