What it is

Pecos Bill occupies a sprawling building between Frontierland and Adventureland with several themed dining rooms and enough seating that finding a table is almost never a problem, even at peak lunch. That capacity is its main asset.

The menu is fajita platters, rice bowls, burgers and a plant-based option. The genuinely useful part is the toppings bar — self-serve peppers, onions, cheese sauce, salsa, jalapenos and lettuce, free and unlimited with any entree. Regulars use it to turn a modest platter into a full meal.

The dining rooms differ. The front rooms are loud and crowded; walk deeper into the building and there are quieter rooms with better theming and reliably empty tables.

Our verdict

Ordinary Tex-Mex made genuinely good value by the free toppings bar and the enormous air-conditioned dining room. The best quick-service default in the park for a big group.

What to order

The dishes this kitchen is actually known for. Menus change seasonally, so treat this as what to look for rather than a guaranteed list.

  • Beef fajita platter
  • Chicken rice bowl
  • Angus bacon cheeseburger
  • Plant-based fajita bowl
  • Free toppings bar

Tips for Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe

  • The toppings bar is free and unlimited. Order the base platter, not the loaded upgrade, and build it yourself — you will end up with more food for less money.
  • Walk to the back dining rooms. The front of the building is a scrum at noon and there are consistently empty tables three rooms deep.
  • Mobile order and then use the wait to walk to a table first. The pickup window is near the entrance and hunting for seats with a full tray is the standard mistake here.
  • This is the most reliable place in the park to seat a group of eight or more at lunch without a reservation.
  • The plant-based fajita bowl plus the toppings bar is one of the better vegan quick-service meals at Magic Kingdom, and it is not marketed as such.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe: common questions

Is the toppings bar at Pecos Bill still free?

Yes. The self-serve bar with peppers, onions, cheese sauce, salsa, jalapenos and lettuce is included with any entree purchase and there is no limit on returns. It is the main reason to eat here.

Is Pecos Bill good for vegans?

It is one of the better quick-service options in the park. The plant-based fajita bowl is a full entree rather than a substitution, and the toppings bar lets you build it out considerably.

How busy is Pecos Bill at lunch?

The order counter is busy; the seating is not. The building has multiple dining rooms and the back rooms almost always have open tables even when the front looks impossible.
