What it is

Wine Country Trattoria sits in a stucco-and-terracotta building modeled on a Napa Valley winery, with an interior dining room and a courtyard under grape arbors. It has been here since the park's early years and it is the most consistently overlooked table-service at the Disneyland Resort.

The menu is Italian filtered through California: pastas, a few grilled proteins, salads built around whatever is in season, and a wine list that actually justifies the theme. It is not as ambitious as Carthay Circle and it does not pretend to be.

What it offers is availability. This is the reservation you can usually still get on the day, and a shaded courtyard table here in the middle of the afternoon is one of the better breaks in the park for a party that wants to sit down and drink something without a two-hour wait.

Our verdict

Solid Italian food in a genuinely pleasant courtyard, and the only table-service at this park you can usually walk into. Not a destination meal; a very good break.

What to order

The dishes this kitchen is actually known for. Menus change seasonally, so treat this as what to look for rather than a guaranteed list.

  • Handmade pasta of the day
  • Chicken parmigiana
  • Seasonal California salad
  • Wine flights
  • Tiramisu

Tips for Wine Country Trattoria

  • Check for same-day availability rather than assuming you need to book weeks ahead. This is the table-service that actually has openings.
  • Ask for the courtyard rather than the indoor room. The arbor shade is genuine and the courtyard is quieter than the dining room.
  • The wine list is the real one at this park, and the by-the-glass pours are more interesting than anything at the quick-service bars.
  • Nighttime show dining packages have been offered here from time to time. If one is available and you were eating here anyway, it is a better deal than the equivalent at Carthay Circle.
  • Repeat visitors: the pasta of the day changes far more often than the printed menu and is usually the best thing the kitchen makes that shift. Ask.

Handmade Pasta of the Day

Wine Country Trattoria

$29.99

A rotating pasta dish made in house, served in the courtyard or dining room of the park's Napa-styled Italian restaurant.

Our take: Better than it needs to be given how easy this reservation is to get. The daily pasta changes more often than the menu and is usually the best thing the kitchen makes that shift.

Wine Country Trattoria: common questions

Do I need a reservation for Wine Country Trattoria?

It is recommended but rarely essential. This is the easiest table-service reservation at the Disneyland Resort and same-day availability is common, especially at lunch.

Is it better than Carthay Circle?

No. Carthay Circle's kitchen is a clear tier above. Wine Country Trattoria wins on availability, price and the courtyard, not on food.

Is the wine list worth it?

Yes — it is the most serious list inside either park gate and the by-the-glass selections rotate. A flight here costs less than two cocktails elsewhere in the park.

Is there good outdoor seating?

The courtyard under the arbors is the best seating here, shaded through most of the afternoon and quieter than the indoor room. Request it when you check in.
