What it is
Toy Story Midway Mania! opened at this park in June 2008 in the pier's old shooting-gallery building, and it has been near-permanently busy ever since. You ride a tracked vehicle that rotates to face a series of screens, each running a different carnival midway game, and fire a spring-loaded cannon at 3D targets.
The games are genuinely different from each other — rings, darts, plates, baseballs — and each has hidden high-value targets that only appear if you hit a specific object first. That layered scoring is why people ride this six times in a trip and why the gap between a first-timer's score and a regular's is a factor of five.
It is also the most reliable family attraction in the park: no height requirement, no darkness worth mentioning, air conditioned, six minutes long, and competitive enough that teenagers stay interested. The only real cost is the wait, which is consistently among the longest at this park despite decent capacity.
What riding it is actually like
You put on 3D glasses and board a vehicle seating four, back to back in pairs, each with a pull-string cannon on a swivel. A practice screen lets you calibrate before the first real game.
Pull the string fast and repeatedly — the cannon fires as fast as you can cycle it, and volume beats precision on most screens. In the plate-breaking game, aim for the plates at the very edges; in the dart game, hit the balloons in the volcano first to unlock the highest-value targets behind them.
The final screen is a free-for-all where the multipliers are highest. Do not aim at anything specific there; just fire continuously into the center-left where the target density is greatest.
Is Toy Story Midway Mania! scary?

A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is available and loads from a dedicated position; request it at the attraction entrance. The pull-string cannon requires repeated arm motion, and cast members can offer a modified setup for riders with limited grip.

- Pull the string as fast as your arm allows. Most first-time riders fire a third as often as they could and blame their aim.
- Each game hides bonus targets behind a trigger object — break the plates on the edges, pop the volcano balloons, hit the moving train. Regulars score five times a newcomer purely on knowing where those are.
- The single rider line exists here and is badly underused. It routinely saves 40 minutes.
- If your shoulder gets tired, switch the cannon to your other hand between screens. There is no penalty and the vehicle rotates anyway.
- Repeat visitors: your score is displayed against the ride's daily and all-time averages at unload, and the all-time bar is a legitimate target rather than decoration.
