World Nature holds the two biggest indoor pavilions at EPCOT. The Land contains Soarin' Around the World, a hang-glider simulator that lifts you into an eighty-foot dome; Living with the Land, a fourteen-minute boat ride through working greenhouses and a fish farm that supply restaurants on property; Awesome Planet in the Harvest Theater upstairs; and the Sunshine Seasons food court and Garden Grill restaurant.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends is built around one of the largest saltwater aquariums in the world. The clamshell ride is short and ends by running you alongside the live tank with animated characters projected over the glass, and everything after that — SeaBase, the manatee habitat, the dolphin windows, Turtle Talk with Crush, Bruce's Shark World — is free and better than the ride.

Outside, Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is a self-guided landscaped trail where the fountains and streams respond to your hands. It opened in 2023, has no queue, and is a completely different thing after dark than it is at noon.

This is the neighborhood to retreat to when it is hot. The Seas is the coldest building in EPCOT, The Land has two indoor theaters and a large seated food court, and Living with the Land is fourteen air-conditioned minutes for a wait that is usually under fifteen.

World Nature tips

  • You can enter The Seas aquarium without riding — there is a walk-in door beside the ride queue, and it is also the fast route to Turtle Talk.
  • Ask a cast member inside The Seas for the day's dolphin training and manatee feeding times. They are posted on a board inside rather than in the app.
  • Behind the Seeds is a paid one-hour walking tour of the same greenhouses Living with the Land floats through. It sells out less often than the famous tours because nobody knows it exists — book a morning slot, because the greenhouses are not air-conditioned.

Soarin' Around the World

A hang-glider simulator that lifts you into an eighty-foot dome for a five-minute flight over landmarks on six continents.

Soarin' arrived at EPCOT in 2005 as a copy of the California original, flying only over that state. In 2016 the film was replaced with Around the World, a global version shot in high resolution for a reshaped screen, and the ride was expanded to three theaters so it could actually handle EPCOT-level demand.

Tips for Soarin' Around the World
  • Ask for Concourse B, row 1. The middle theater section puts you in the center of the dome, and the front row means no dangling feet in your field of view. Cast members grant this request routinely if you ask at the sorting point, not at the seats.
  • If you cannot get B1, take B3 over A1 or C1. Being center-bottom of the dome beats being front row on the far edge, where the projection distorts and you see the seam.
  • Take your hat off and keep flip-flops on tight or take them off entirely. Shoes falling onto the row below is common enough that cast members announce it.
  • The wait posted outside is usually pessimistic by ten minutes because three theaters cycle simultaneously. If it says sixty, expect closer to forty-five.
  • Ride at park opening or in the last hour. Soarin' is the one EPCOT headliner where the standby line does not collapse at dinner — people fill it as an air-conditioned break.

Living with the Land

A fourteen-minute boat ride through working greenhouses and a fish farm that actually supply EPCOT restaurants.

Living with the Land has run since the park opened in 1982, and it remains the most genuinely unusual attraction Disney operates: a slow boat through four real greenhouses and an aquaculture facility where the plants and fish are grown, harvested, and sent to kitchens on property. The lemons hanging over your head are real lemons. The tilapia are real tilapia.

Tips for Living with the Land
  • Sit on the left side of the boat. Most of the crop displays, the fish tanks, and the alligator are staged on the port side.
  • The Mickey-shaped pumpkins are grown in molds and are only in the field for part of the growing cycle, but the vanilla vines and the enormous lemons are there year round and are easy to miss if you are looking at your phone.
  • Book the Behind the Seeds walking tour at the same pavilion if this ride interests you at all. It is the paid version of the second half and it is the least-known good tour at Walt Disney World.
  • Never spend a Lightning Lane here. The standby line rarely exceeds fifteen minutes and often runs at zero.
  • Everything you are looking at ends up on plates at Garden Grill directly upstairs and at Sunshine Seasons downstairs. Ordering the fish at Garden Grill after riding this is a small, satisfying loop to close.

Awesome Planet

A ten-minute nature film in The Land's Harvest Theater, narrated by Ty Burrell, with seat rumble and a mist effect.

Awesome Planet opened in January 2020 in the Harvest Theater, the upstairs auditorium in The Land pavilion that had sat mostly unused since Circle of Life ended. It is a compressed history of Earth — formation, ice, life, ecosystems, human impact — cut fast and scored aggressively, with Ty Burrell narrating.

Tips for Awesome Planet
  • Do it while the rest of your party is in the Soarin' standby line. The theater is thirty seconds from the Soarin' entrance and the run time is short enough that you can rejoin them.
  • Sit toward the middle. The mist effect is aimed at the front rows, and the back row is far enough that the screen loses some impact.
  • The theater is on the upper level of The Land, above the food court. The escalator up is at the front of the pavilion; the elevator is off to the right side.
  • Showtimes are on a fixed cycle rather than continuous, so check the app before walking up or you may wait ten minutes outside a closed door.

Behind the Seeds at EPCOT

A paid one-hour walking tour of the greenhouses and fish farm you float past on Living with the Land, with samples.

Behind the Seeds is the walking version of Living with the Land, and it is the best-value tour at Walt Disney World. A horticulturist takes a small group off the boat route and into the greenhouses on foot: the hydroponics towers, the aquaculture tanks, the integrated pest management lab where they breed insects to eat other insects, and the experimental crop rows.

Tips for Behind the Seeds at EPCOT
  • Book by phone or in the app in advance, but also check in at the tour desk on the lower level of The Land the morning of — same-day spots open when parties no-show, and cast members will take walk-ups when there is room.
  • Wear closed shoes. You are walking on greenhouse floors that are damp in places, and sandals are miserable.
  • The greenhouses are hot and humid, not air-conditioned. In July this tour is a sweat. Book a morning slot.
  • Ask what is being harvested that week and where it is going. The guides will tell you which restaurant on property is getting the produce, which is the detail nobody else in the park has.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends

A four-minute clamshell ride that ends by driving you into a real 5.7-million-gallon aquarium with animation layered over the glass.

The Seas pavilion opened in 1986 as The Living Seas, a serious marine science exhibit with a hydrolator elevator gag and a shuttle ride to an underwater base. In 2007 Disney overlaid a Finding Nemo storyline on the ride portion, and the result is much better than that description suggests, because of one trick.

Tips for The Seas with Nemo & Friends
  • Sit on the right side of the clamshell. The aquarium runs along the right for the whole payoff section, and the left seat spends that time looking at a wall.
  • The exit puts you in SeaBase, the aquarium level. Do not walk out — the manatee viewing area, the shark tank, and the dolphin windows are all free and most people leave without seeing them.
  • You can enter the aquarium exhibits without riding at all. There is a bypass door to the left of the ride entrance, which is the move if the ride line is long or your party has a nervous toddler.
  • Feeding and training demonstrations at the dolphin and manatee windows happen on a posted schedule at the pavilion, not in the app. Ask a cast member inside for the times when you enter.
  • This is the coldest building in EPCOT. In August, the two-level aquarium hall is the best free relief in the park.

Turtle Talk with Crush

A live, unscripted conversation between an animated sea turtle and the audience, driven by an operator you never see.

Turtle Talk opened in 2004 and quietly became one of the most impressive things Disney does. Crush appears on a screen styled as a window into the ocean and holds an actual conversation with the audience: a hidden performer voices and puppets him in real time, using a camera on the crowd to pick out individual kids, describe their clothes, mispronounce their names on purpose, and improvise.

Tips for Turtle Talk with Crush
  • Put children on the carpet at the front and slightly to the middle. That is the camera's sweet spot and it dramatically raises the odds Crush picks them.
  • Coach a shy kid on one specific question beforehand. Being picked and having nothing to say is the failure mode; having one line ready fixes it.
  • Wearing something visually distinctive helps — a bright hat, a costume, a birthday button. The performer scans for anything that gives them material.
  • Adults sitting at the back are fair game too. If you want to be picked, sit on the aisle end of the first bench row.
  • Shows run on a fixed cycle and the room holds a limited number. Arrive at the door about ten minutes before a posted showtime on a busy day and you will make that show rather than the next one.

The Seas Aquarium and SeaBase Exhibits

Two floors of free aquarium viewing around one of the largest saltwater tanks in the world, plus manatees, sharks, and dolphins.

SeaBase is the two-level exhibit hall wrapped around the main tank at The Seas pavilion. It is free, it has no queue, and most EPCOT visitors ride the Nemo attraction and walk straight out without realizing there is an entire aquarium attached to it.

Tips for The Seas Aquarium and SeaBase Exhibits
  • Ask a cast member at the entrance for the day's dolphin training and manatee feeding times. They are posted on a board inside rather than in the app, and the sessions are the difference between a nice tank and a genuinely interesting half hour.
  • The lower level is quieter and colder than the upper level. If you want the quiet aquarium experience, take the elevator down and start at the far end from the ride exit.
  • You can enter without riding. The walk-in entrance is beside the ride queue, and it is also the fast route to Turtle Talk.
  • Divers are in the main tank most days doing maintenance and feeding. If you see one, wave — they wave back, and it is the easiest photo of the trip.

Bruce's Shark World

Bruce's Shark World sits off the main aquarium hall and takes about fifteen minutes to exhaust. It is a set of shark facts presented as games — a size comparison, a bite-force display, a quiz kiosk — plus a large open shark jaw that every family in EPCOT photographs their children standing inside.

Tips for Bruce's Shark World
  • The photo inside the jaw is the whole point. Shoot it from a crouch so the teeth frame the shot rather than looming above the subject.
  • Use this room to time Turtle Talk. Check the next showtime, then let the kids run here until five minutes before.
  • The quiz kiosks reset between guests, so a group can go one at a time without waiting for a full cycle.
  • It is one of the quietest corners of The Seas in the late afternoon, and there is bench seating just outside if an adult needs to sit out.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana

A self-guided outdoor water trail where the streams and fountains respond to your hands, opened in 2023 near World Nature.

Journey of Water opened in October 2023 as the first genuinely new walkable space at EPCOT in decades. It is a landscaped trail — under an acre — that traces the water cycle from cloud to rain to river to ocean, with interactive effects at every stage. Water arcs jump when you pass your hand under them, a pool ripples away from your fingers, and a rain shelter opens and closes over your head.

Tips for Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
  • Go at night. The lighting and the water together are a different attraction after dark, and the daytime version is a shadeless walk in Florida sun.
  • There is no queue and no capacity limit, so you can walk in during the nighttime spectacular and have most of it to yourself while the lagoon is packed.
  • Bring a hand towel or accept damp sleeves. The interactive effects are meant to be touched and children will trigger every single one.
  • The path is a loop, but the exit near the Imagination side is a shortcut toward the pavilions if you are heading that way. Do not backtrack out the way you came.
  • This is the best place at EPCOT to let a toddler out of a stroller for twenty minutes without anyone needing to queue for anything.
