The Brown Derby recreates the Hollywood restaurant where studio deals were made in the 1930s and 1940s: dark wood, white tablecloths, caricatures on the walls, deep booths, and a noise level low enough to hold a conversation. In a park where every other dining room is loud on purpose, that is the main thing it sells.
The kitchen is a genuine signature-tier operation rather than a theme park restaurant with high prices. The Cobb salad is the historical dish and it is prepared and tossed properly; the grapefruit cake is the other item that has been on the menu since the original restaurant. Beyond those two, the menu rotates and leans toward steak, fish and pasta done straightforwardly and well.
It is expensive, and there is no dressing that up. Two adults having a full meal here will spend well over $150 as of July 2026. What you are buying is a real restaurant experience inside a theme park: attentive service, an actual wine list, and ninety minutes off your feet in a cool, quiet room.
The best meal inside this park and worth the money once per trip if a quiet, proper dinner matters to you. If you just want food, you are paying roughly triple for the room.

Our take: Genuinely excellent and genuinely expensive. Order it on the outdoor lounge patio without a reservation and you get the same salad from the same kitchen for far less commitment.

For dinner, effectively yes; it books out well in advance at 60 days. Lunch is easier and same-day availability does appear, particularly for parties of two. The adjacent lounge takes walk-ups.

It is the only quiet, tablecloth dining room in the park, and if that is worth something to you then yes. If you are indifferent to atmosphere you will eat better value at Mama Melrose's or a quick-service counter.
No formal dress code. Theme park clothing is normal and nobody will look at you strangely, though you will see people who have made an effort.
