Our take: This one earns its reputation. It is very sweet and it is one dessert for two people, not one each. The most-searched item at this park and the search is justified.
Plant-based kefta meatballs over herbed hummus with pita and a dressed cucumber and tomato salad, properly spiced rather than mildly seasoned.
Our take: One of the best vegan entrees at Walt Disney World and better than most of the meat dishes around it. Order it even if you eat meat; almost nobody does and they are wrong.
Buttermilk-brined fried chicken with mashed potatoes and vegetables, served by a waiter playing an exasperated relative who will check whether you finished the vegetables.
Our take: The best table-service dish in the park and genuinely good fried chicken, not theme park fried chicken. The dish the whole restaurant is built around.

Our take: The best cheap dessert in the park. It travels well, it splits neatly in two, and the savory version that appears from time to time is better than the sweet one.

Our take: Excellent and enormous. Order one for two people alongside something else; a single person who orders these as a main course will not need dinner.
Fairfax Fare
Smoked ribs with barbecue sauce and two sides from the barbecue window at Sunset Ranch Market, plated rather than wrapped.
Our take: The best food in Sunset Ranch Market and better than it has any right to be. They sell out on busy evenings, so eat before about seven if you want them.
A frozen plant-based blend built on coconut and rice milk, sweet and tropical, with a texture closer to a fruit smoothie than a milkshake.
Our take: Mildly overrated as a landmark but genuinely useful as a vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free drink you can hand to anyone. Try it once, share it, and do not queue twenty minutes for it.
Four small pours from the rotating California draft list, built by the bartender to your preferences rather than fixed as a set lineup.
Our take: The only flight at Hollywood Studios worth the money and the best drink value in the park. Tell them what you like and let them choose.
Finely chopped greens, bacon, egg, avocado, blue cheese and turkey tossed tableside, the dish the original Los Angeles Brown Derby is credited with inventing.
Our take: Genuinely excellent and genuinely expensive. Order it on the outdoor lounge patio without a reservation and you get the same salad from the same kitchen for far less commitment.
Oasis Canteen
A funnel cake fried to order at a small stand beside the Indiana Jones amphitheater, served plain with sugar or under a rotating topping.
Our take: Made to order, which puts it well ahead of the pre-fried versions sold from carts elsewhere. Get it plain; the topping of the moment usually adds cost rather than quality.
Three cheeses pressed on garlic-buttered bread and griddled, served with a tomato basil soup for dipping when the soup is on the menu.
Our take: The best vegetarian quick-service item at this park and a genuinely good grilled cheese. Add a side of totchos and you have the strongest cheap lunch in the park.
A thick hand-spun milkshake blended with peanut butter and a fruit jelly swirl, served in a metal tin with the extra poured at the table.
Our take: Very sweet, very rich, and the item people remember from this restaurant. Order one for the table rather than one each unless everybody has a serious sweet tooth.
A plant-based patty with vegan cheese and a dedicated build on its own bun, served with fries rather than substituted into the meat burger.
Our take: One of the better vegan quick-service items at Hollywood Studios and a proper build rather than an afterthought. Ask for it without cheese if you want it fully vegan and are unsure of the day's stock.
A warm soft pretzel served with a beer cheese dip and a grain mustard at the California-focused beer bar on Grand Avenue.
Our take: The pretzel the Mickey-shaped one wishes it were: warm, fresh, with a dip that is genuinely made rather than pumped. Order it with a flight and skip the cart version entirely.
The breakfast version of the Ronto Wrap: scrambled egg and grilled sausage in the same warm pita with a peppery sauce, served from park opening.
Our take: The best breakfast in the park and it is not a close contest. Eat it at rope drop while everybody else queues at the coffee window on Hollywood Boulevard.
A quarter-pound Angus patty with bacon, cheese and standard toppings, served with fries at the burger window in Sunset Ranch Market.
Our take: The most reliable burger in the park and the correct default when a group cannot agree. It is a good burger, not a memorable one, and it comes out fast.
A bacon cheeseburger with fries served in a quick-service counter dressed as a working studio prop and scenery shop beside Star Tours.
Our take: The burger is average and the dining rooms are the best-themed casual space in the park. Eat it in the far room, where the prop dressing is worth more than the lunch.
Smoked brisket with cheese and pickled vegetables pressed into a griddled sandwich, the heaviest item on a short window menu.
Our take: Good, messy and filling, and a better order than the plain turkey sandwich. It does not travel as well as the grilled cheese, so eat it at a table.
A thin flatbread charred in the restaurant's hearth oven with a rotating set of toppings, served as a starter or a light meal.
Our take: The strongest thing the kitchen does and the reason to book the restaurant everybody else ignores. Order it to share before the pasta.
Anaheim Produce
A fried dough stick rolled in cinnamon sugar, sold warm from stands and carts throughout the resort at $5.50.
Our take: Better value than the pretzel and better eaten. Get one from a stand that is actively frying rather than one holding a warmer full of them, and eat it within five minutes.
The Trolley Car Cafe
Standard Starbucks cold brew from the park's coffee location on the corner of Hollywood and Sunset, served over ice.
Our take: The only real coffee in the park and the reason to know this location exists. Mobile order it from the rope drop queue rather than joining the morning line.
Tune-In Lounge
A tall blue vodka and rum lemonade served in a glass fishbowl with a light-up cube, the signature drink of the lounge attached to 50's Prime Time Cafe.
Our take: Sweet, strong and considerably larger than a normal cocktail, which is why it looks like better value than it is. Fun once; you will not want a second.
Anaheim Produce
Cut seasonal fruit in a cup from the produce stand at the end of Sunset Ranch Market, alongside whole fruit sold by the piece.
Our take: The most useful thing in this dataset on day four of a trip. Cheap, cold, vegan by default, and the only fresh food on this side of the park.
Fried chicken with roasted vegetable mash and a green herb sauce, hiding under a deliberately unfamiliar name that puts off a lot of cautious eaters.
Our take: Solid fried chicken and the safe order for a child or a nervous adult. Good, not memorable, and outclassed by the plant-based dish on the same menu.
A peach and citrus vodka cocktail topped with a foam that produces a brief tingling, buzzing sensation on the lips as you drink it.
Our take: The novelty is real and lasts about four seconds. Worth ordering once because it is the only drink at Walt Disney World that does anything, but it is an expensive peach cocktail underneath.
The second frozen plant-based milk at the same stand, citrus-forward and sharper than the blue, with a floral finish that people either love or actively dislike.
Our take: Genuinely divisive, and better than blue if you like a sour drink. Buy one of each and share rather than gambling on two of the same.
A hand-dipped milkshake in a rotating set of flavors, delivered to your convertible by a carhop in the darkened drive-in dining room.
Our take: A good milkshake made better by being handed to you in a car under a fake night sky. The setting is doing most of the work and that is fine.
Hollywood Scoops
A scoop of hand-dipped ice cream in a waffle cone pressed on site, with the smell of the cone iron carrying down Sunset Boulevard.
Our take: The cone is the reason to buy it and the ice cream is ordinary. Skip the sundae, which is the same product with worse value per scoop.
A bowl of seasoned fried dough pieces served warm with a dipping sauce, the main solid food option at the cantina.
Our take: Overpriced fried dough that exists so you have something to put on the rail. Fine to share, not a reason to come, and not a substitute for a meal.
An oversized sugar cookie topped with blue frosting and a dusting of blue sugar, sold at the counter alongside the entrees.
Our take: A large, sweet, ordinary sugar cookie. Buy it for a child who wants something blue; there is nothing here for an adult.
Dockside Diner
An all-beef hot dog under chili and cheese from the service window cut into a beached steamer on the edge of Echo Lake.
Our take: Cheap, fast and perfectly decent, with the best waterside seating of any quick bite in the park. Nobody will write home about it and nobody needs to.
ABC Commissary
A fried chicken breast sandwich with fries from the large indoor cafeteria on Commissary Lane, where the seating is the actual product.
Our take: Ordinary in every way, which is fine, because you came here for an air-conditioned table rather than the food. Check the app first; this location closes on quiet days.
Peevy's Polar Pipeline
A large frozen lemonade slush from the small drinks window on Echo Lake, sold plain or with a spirit added for an upcharge.
Our take: Sugar and ice in a cup, which on a 96-degree afternoon is exactly what you want. Free ice water from any counter does the actual job for nothing.
A layered rum and blue curacao cocktail served over crushed ice, one of several cantina drinks built to photograph better than they taste.
Our take: Overrated. It looks superb and drinks like a strong, sweet, one-note tiki cocktail. Order the tingling one instead if you are only having one.
Fairfax Fare
An all-beef hot dog under chili, cheese and onions, served with fries from the barbecue window at Sunset Ranch Market.
Our take: A competent chili dog at a park price. Order the ribs instead unless somebody at the table specifically wants a hot dog.
Hollywood Scoops
Vanilla ice cream shaped like Mickey Mouse's head on a stick, coated in dark chocolate, sold from ice cream windows and carts across the resort.
Our take: Consistent, cheap and instant, which is its entire case. It is a supermarket ice cream bar with better branding, but it is the fastest cold thing in the park.
A packet of seasoned turkey jerky sold at the grill window, in a spiced blend that is sweeter and softer than most supermarket jerky.
Our take: Useful rather than exciting. It survives a day in a bag, it is genuinely gluten free, and it is the only high-protein thing in this land you can carry for hours.
Toluca Legs Turkey Co.
A brined and smoked turkey leg roughly the size of a forearm, dense and salty with a texture and flavor much closer to ham than to roast turkey.
Our take: Overrated as a landmark and underrated as value. Two people can eat for under twelve dollars, but almost nobody enjoys the second half, and it is far saltier than newcomers expect.
Sliced smoked turkey with cheese and a spread on griddled bread, the mildest item on the Woody's Lunch Box menu.
Our take: The order for someone who does not want anything interesting. Perfectly fine, entirely forgettable, and the grilled cheese costs less and tastes better.
Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream of Extinction
Vanilla soft serve from the window in the side of a fifty-foot cartoon dinosaur that has stood on Echo Lake since the park opened in 1989.
Our take: Overrated on the strength of the building. The ice cream is ordinary soft serve; buy it as rent for the photograph and set your expectations accordingly.
Catalina Eddie's
A personal cheese pizza from the pizza window in Sunset Ranch Market, held hot and handed over in a box.
Our take: Exactly the pizza you expect, which is the point. It exists so a child who will eat nothing else eats something, and it does that job without complaint.
Anaheim Produce
A large soft pretzel shaped like Mickey Mouse's head, salted, sold warm from carts and stands across the resort with an optional cheese dip.
Our take: Overrated and overpriced. It is a warm shopping-mall pretzel at $8.50 that goes leathery within ten minutes. Buy it for the photograph, not for the eating.
Kat Saka's Kettle
Multicolored popcorn in a sweet coating with a chili heat that arrives a second after the sugar, sold from a single-item market stall.
Our take: Overrated. It is sweet chili popcorn at a premium, the heat catches people out, and roughly half of every group stops after one handful. Buy one bag for the table at most.
